PROMPT : EQUATOR

“She was last seen near the Equator, around the Southern hemisphere,” her handler, Rica Goldsworthy pointed to a place on the holographic map. “There’s no guarantee that you’ll find any trace of her, but it’s something to keep in mind.”

“How did she manage to slip your system?” Red Shadow, the new agent assigned, furrowed her red eyebrows. “I mean, I’ve heard of her. She’s good. There’s no way she would turn—not without some kind of good reason.”

“And stop right there,” Rica snapped. “That’s the kind of thinking that will get us both killed and her blacklisted. We don’t care what made her turn, as you put it. The fact remains that she turned. And if you think there’s a way to justify what she’s done, then you’re insane. And you’ll likely turn just as she did, so we might have to go with the Jade Falcon as originally planned.”

Red Shadow snorted. “You can try to take me off of it,” she said, airily. “But if I recall correctly, you’re the one that wanted someone familiar with the equator, as you put it?”

Rica muffled a scream in her expensive embroidered handkerchief.
