Er, yes, I was just kind of musing about the giant sunflower in our backyard and on a prompt from my Dad, ended up scribbling a short bit of “maybe-poetry”.

Enjoy–it’s titled “Sunflower Upright”

Sunflower, upright
Standing tall
In the night
In the day
In the evening
Everyday

Sunflower, held high
Head held up
To the sky
In the night
In the day
In the evening
Everyday

Sunflower, so pretty
Golden-petaled beauty
Always, surely
In the night
In the day
In the evening
Everyday

Sunflower,
I see you
From my corner here
Nowhere
I watch your smile
From a distance
Watching, watching
All the while
You don’t waver
In the darkness
You don’t waver
In the rain
You don’t waver
When it’s over
Your head
Is held high
In the sky
Always
Sunflower, upright
Stay strong
With all your might
