Prompt Fiction

PROMPT : VALUE

Mira poked through the rusty specimens at the market stall. There were some interesting pieces and a few that were probably worth something of value.

It was hard to tell, but she only needed a few pieces to get her by. With a few more scraps, she could complete her art display and perhaps the Teacher’s Assistant would pick her after all.

He was handsome and daring in all the ways that any girl wanted. Charm and tact in equal measure, to the point that when he’d accepted his overseas transfer, he’d agreed to an ultimatum from his many suitors.

An art show, where, if anyone could capture his eye—and by turn, his heart—with a single display, he would gladly attempt a friendship open to the possibility of something more.

Mira had never quite thrown herself into the effort of being one of his many fangirls, but she had been drawn to his kind eyes and helpful directions in class.

Willing to work with her, even though her brushstrokes were clumsy and her technique untried. Worth it. Somehow.

She turned the metal scraps over in her hands, picturing where it would fit on her display. Maybe this piece would work after all…
