FLASH FICTION PROMPT

“I’ll be waiting for you.” His grip on my hand didn’t even lessen. “I’ll be on the other side.”

“I know.” I didn’t try to pull away. “I’ll walk as fast as I can.”

“Fly, if you must.” He whispered.

“If I must.” I tried to smile for him, for us.

“You have to go now.”

“I know.”

“They’ll eat their words when you come out on the other end.”

“I know.”

“They’ll never be able to hold this against us again.”

“I know.”

“I…love you.”

“See you on the other side.” I pulled free from his hands and ran to
the entrance of the maze. I did not look back. I would find the exit. He would wait. I would find him. No
matter the cost.
