FLASH FICTION PROMPT

“Well, what if I don’t want you to adopt  me?” She threw the pillow at him and then the bottle of body lotion from the nightstand. “What if I don’t want to have anything to do with you crazy-!”

“I’m not giving you that choice.”

“Oh, so now I’m gonna be your prisoner and-“

“I’ll adopt you now and if you change your mind later, we can just pretend it didn’t happen.”

“It doesn’t work that way!”

“It works the way we want it to.”

“You’re insane!”

“Certifiably–but I’m not going to change my mind, just because you think you’re not worth it.”

“I’m not.” She glared through her tears. “I’m really  not. You don’t want me.”

“Sure I do.” He bent down and snagged the pillow. “All of you–including the part that throws pillows-” he threw the pillow “and bottles.” The bottle is placed on the nightstand.

Suddenly, she’s in his arms and it’s alright again. He hasn’t broken a single promise yet and somehow, she thinks that he really does care. After all, it’s his life and he can choose.
