So … you’re halfway through a book and you’re hating it. It’s boring. It’s trite. It’s badly written. But … you’ve invested all this time to reading the first half.
What do you do? Read the second half? Just to finish out the story? Find out what happens?
Or, cut your losses and dump the second half?
Oooh…easy. Read the end and dump it. ^_^ Yes, I actually do that. If it’s that bad, I will read the end to know what happens (so the time wasn’t wasted for nothing) and then I’ll donate it to the library. Usually though, I “test” books I want to read by checking online reviews from reviewers with similar tastes and reading at least the first chapter. Usually, if I’m hooked, I’ll read it all the way through and I’ll buy it on the spot.
